  • [Notable Update] Now only 6 Grand Rapids Public Schools grab and go meal sites (link includes English and Spanish versions) will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Follow changing details here
  • Grab-and-Go Food - WOOD TV 8 has compiled a list of all sites for grab and go food that is being updated here. It is organized by school district. (Updated on 3/24)

  • Grab-and-Go Food - YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids (three locations in SE and two locations in NW) is offering free lunch and dinner for children under 18 in need during the statewide school closure. Updated (as of 3/24) flyers are available in English and Spanish
  • Drive-thru style dinner and snack - Boys and Girls Club of Grand Rapids bgcgrandrapids.org in three locations (all SE and NE). For more info call: 616-233-9370.
  • DHHS Food and Other Resources (F.O.R.) helpline - 1-888-544-8733. Provides help with locating a food pantry and applying for food benefits.
  • Grab-and-Go Food - Breakfast and lunch (pick-up both at the same time) Mon-Fri from March 16 - April 3 (10am -12pm) at three locations (Early Childhood Center, Godfrey Elementary, Lee High School/Middle School). All locations are either drive-up or pick-up. Child does not need to be present. Every food item will be pre-packaged. Fridays will offer breakfast and lunch distribution for the weekend.

  • Grab-and-Go Food - Catholic Charities is providing takeout meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30pm - 2pm at God’s Kitchen. Diapers and wipes will also be available. 
  • Grab-and-Go Food - Kids' Food Basket will continue to provide evening meals and other nutritional services through several distribution locations.

  • [Actively updating the list below for new hours and instructions]:
    • North End Community Ministry will give clients a box of pre-selected food at the door of New City Church, 214 Spencer NE. The boxes contain fruits, vegetables, grains and protein. Pantry hours are from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
    • South End Community Outreach Ministries has closed its resource center, but will provide emergency food assistance during normal food pantry hours: Monday through Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Officials ask that people stay in their cars and call (616) 452-7684 option 3 for assistance. They are located at 1545 Buchanan Ave. SW.
    • Meals on Wheels will continue to deliver meals to seniors. They are also preparing “shelf stable” meals in the event they have to stop deliveries. For their food pantry, Meals on Wheels is pre-packaging meal boxes of items for clients. The boxes will include dry goods, dairy, meat and produce.
    • The Other Way Ministries has extended their pantry hours and are now open Mon-Fri from 9am - 3pm. Tuesdays they are open until 6pm. Delivery service is available, call 616-454-4011. In order to qualify, share a self-declared need. No documents necessary. 
    • United Church Outreach Ministry has food pantry services but has closed its facility to the public. Those in need of food in UCOM’s service area should call and talk to staff for further details. When visiting UCOM, please remain in car and call for service at 616-241-4006.
    • Feeding America West Michigan will have a drive-thru mobile food pantry at Sigbee School. Enter west-bound on Logan into the south drive. March 19 at 4pm, April 4 at 10 am.
    •  St. Alphonsus Food and Clothing Pantry is also open during regular hours. Mon, Wed, Thurs 9-1 and Tues 9-12:30. We ask that people knock at the door and we will get some basic info (name, DOB, # in family, food allergies, and a few other choices).  Passing out Kids Food Basket bags on Mon, Wed, Fri from 11-noon. 224 Carrier St at the end of the circle drive. Volunteers will prepare your food bag and bring it out to you. We are not able to distribute clothing at this time. 
  • Restaurants Providing Free Food
    • Maya Mexican Grill & Bar (1020 28th St SW) will be providing 100 free to-go kids lunches from 12pm-1pm every Wednesday through April 1st.
    • Wikiwiki Poke Shop (1146 Wealthy St SE) is offering free kids poke bowls as of 3/13/20. 
    • Garage Bar and Grill (819 Ottawa Ave. NW) is offering 100 free to-go meals a day to laid off workers. 
    • Burger King to offer free kids meals during coronavirus school closures.
    • Uccello’s is passing out free food from 2-5pm DAILY until Friday, March 27. Check out their Facebook for more information. 
  • Baxter Community Center marketplace and greenhouse is open to the surrounding Baxter neighborhood. Call 616-456-8593 for more information. (Currently confirming after new order from the Governor)
  • [Confirmed this is still happening] GRCC students can pick up bags of groceries on campus by the brick paved portion of the Juan R. Olivarez Student Plaza. More info here. Drive-by pick-ups will occur on the following days:
    • Tuesday, March 24th from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday, April 1st from noon to 2 p.m.
    • Monday, April 6th from 10 a.m. to noon

  • Grab and Go food and self-care supplies can be picked up Monday - Wednesday from 4-7pm at Sunrise Ministries (7754 28th Ave. Jenison, MI). Donations accepted Sunday - Thursday, 9am - 1pm. More info here.  
  • New food distribution date added. Due to recent community need of additional food resources KCCA has scheduled an additional Food Distribution date for March 26 from 1pm-6pm at Kent County Community Action located at 121 Franklin Street SE Grand Rapids, MI 49507. This additional date has also brought a need for volunteers to help make the distribution run smoothly and ensure we get as much food out to the community as is needed.   • God's Kitchen cannot accept additional clients for their meal delivery program at this point (as of 3/20). Service will continue to those clients already enrolled in the program. 
  • Grab and Go Meals (additional site) the YMCA has added Crossroads Alternative HS Kentwood (28 60th St. SE). Updated flyers are available in English and Spanish

      • 7am - 8am Monday/Wednesday - Essential service workers and Meijer employees
      • 7am - 8am Tuesday/Thursday - Senior citizens and guests with health conditions
    • Special hours for SpartanNash stores: Including Family Fare, D&W Fresh Market, Family Fresh Market, Forest Hills Foods, Ada Fresh Market, and others.
      • From 7am - 9:00am Tuesdays & Thursdays older adults, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals.
    • Walmart: Tuesdays, 6am-7am
    • Target: Wednesdays, First hour stores are open (check local store hours)
    • Dollar General: First hour stores are open (check local store hours)
