Utilities and Internet Resources During COVID-19

  • Grand Rapids Public Schools is offering assistance accessing materials or technology. You can email or call with questions: academics@grps.org or call (616) 301-1111.
  • Consumers Energy and DTE are suspending shutoffs for non-payment through April 15. Story and eligibility here
  • The City of Grand Rapids will suspend water service shutoffs through April 30 and accounts in shutoff status will be restored.  Any participants who are currently shutoff should contact KCCA to have their service restored. 
  • Comcast is offering “Internet Essentials” program free (and with increased speeds) for customers living with low income for 60 days. More info here. Updated flier here in English and Spanish (3/23).
  • Charter Spectrum if offering free internet during this period of closure (844) 488-8395
  • AT&T is offering free internet during this period of closure www.att.com or call (855) 220-5211. 
  • For those without online access, Grand Rapids Public Schools will have the Grand Rapids Academic Summer Program (GRASP) print materials available for pick up at the Sibley Elementary and Ottawa Hills High School Nutrition Sites (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM Monday - Friday). GRASP includes math and reading resources and activities for students in grades K-8.  
  • Internet companies won’t disconnect people for unpaid bills for 60 days according to the FCC. This includes AT&T, Comcast, Charter, Cox, Google Fiber, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile.
  • If you are an active participant of a Spectrum Healthier Communities program, you may have access to a fund for your living necessities. Learn more through your Community Health Worker.
